David Sullivan: West Ham joint-chair steps down from position with immediate effect

David Sullivan has stepped down as joint-chair of West Ham United with immediate effect.
The 77-year-old has served on West Ham’s board for more than 16 years.
The club said the move was made ahead of the imminent publication of serious historic allegations.
Sullivan denies all allegations and said the decision was to avoid disruption to the club.
Interim CEO Karim Virani will continue to lead the club’s day-to-day operations.
The departure follows West Ham's relegation from the Premier League last month.
The club stated the allegations do not relate to West Ham or its operations.
Sullivan said he is addressing the matter privately.
The statement confirmed Sullivan resigned as director of WH Holding Limited and West Ham United Football Club.
