UAMS invested Jorge Saucedo, M.D., MBA, as the Nolan Family Distinguished Chair in Internal Medicine.
Saucedo is professor and chair of the Department of Internal Medicine at UAMS.
The chair was established in 1991 through gifts from the Nolan family to support UAMS' mission.
Endowed chairs are among the highest academic honors at universities.
UAMS Dean Steven Webber called the chair a symbol of civic and philanthropic spirit.
The Nolan family expressed congratulations and continued support for Saucedo's success.
Saucedo's background includes leadership roles at multiple institutions and extensive cardiovascular work.
Saucedo has held leadership roles in cardiology and has published extensively.
UAMS is Arkansas’s only health sciences university with a statewide network and multiple institutes.
The ceremony honored Saucedo's return to UAMS after a national search for a new chair.
