Professor Özlem Gürses joins Tulane’s Maritime Law Program

Tulane Law School named Özlem Gürses as Professor of Law, enhancing its maritime law program with top-tier expertise.

Her publications include Marine Insurance Law and the Edward Elgar Handbook on Marine Insurance Law.

Gürses earned a PhD and LLM from the University of Southampton and has ties to global policy organizations.
Her appointment is part of Tulane’s effort to advance its global maritime law program.
Gürses will join Tulane in 2026 to teach and engage with Tulane’s law community.
Gürses serves as Vice-Chair of the British Insurance Law Association and chairs AIDA’s Reinsurance Working Party.
Gürses has received competitive grants and leads international research projects in AI and insurance.
