Texas Children’s Hospital must establish a detransition clinic within 90 days as part of a settlement with the Texas attorney general.
The agreement requires creation of a dedicated clinic website and a donate page to support detransition services.
A 'Potential GAC Patient List' must be kept and reviewed internally to ensure compliance with laws and the settlement.
The detransition clinic will offer multidisciplinary services including endocrinology, surgery, primary care, fertility counseling, psychiatry and psychotherapy.
The city hospital will bar gender-affirming procedures described as 'sex-rejecting' under the settlement, including puberty blockers and hormone therapies.
Texas Children’s also faced revocation of medical privileges for three current doctors and two former ones as part of the settlement.
The hospital says the detransition services were already offered, and the clinic will formalize those existing services.
The settlement term sheet indicates ongoing negotiations and that a final agreement had not yet been signed at the time of reporting.
Harvard researchers cited a 2024 study noting less than 1% of minors receiving puberty blockers or hormone treatments.
