‘Game of Thrones’ Play ‘The Mad King’ Unveils Full Cast for Royal Shakespeare Company World Premiere

The Royal Shakespeare Company announced a 36-strong cast for Game of Thrones: The Mad King, ahead of its Stratford-upon-Avon premiere.
The world premiere opens August 8 at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon and runs through September 5.
Michael Shaeffer will portray King Aerys II Targaryen in the production.
The play is an adaptation by Duncan Macmillan based on George R. R. Martin's novels and is set before the events of the books.
The project is co-produced with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and supported by HBO on behalf of the series.
Johan Persson photographed the production for the cast reveal and the RSC has confirmed cast details.
The cast includes both established and emerging performers in key Westerosi roles.
The creative team includes set designer Chloe Lamford and lighting designer Jon Clark as part of the production.
The production will be co-produced with HBO’s Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures and supported by Access Entertainment among others.
