Nine California residents fell ill as of May 24, with the investigation ongoing.
Symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, vomiting, and signs of dehydration.
The outbreak is connected to Shiga toxin–producing E. coli; severe cases may lead to kidney failure.
The Kebab Shop reported the issue spans beef kofta only, with other proteins sourced from different suppliers unaffected.
The investigation is ongoing, with FSIS collaborating with the California Department of Public Health.
The Kebab Shop operates in North Texas, including McKinney and The Colony, plus Houston and Austin areas.
The alert warns potential illness from consuming beef kofta linked to the product batch produced in Illinois.
