Newark Liberty International in New Jersey is named the world's most stressful airport in the iSelect study.
The airport scored 18.46 out of 100 on the study’s index for stress levels across key factors.
Newark’s poor scores were driven by low marks for check-in and customs/immigration processes.
Newark’s average departure delay is about 21.4 minutes, with a 1.43% rate of cancelled departures.
Despite the ranking, Newark is undergoing major upgrades including a new Terminal A completed in 2023 and a planned AirTrain Newark project.
Lisbon’s Humberto Delgado Airport ranked second, with a high delay time but better access.
Other U.S. airports in the top five stressors include JFK and Chicago O’Hare.
Singapore Changi, Doha Hamad International, and Seoul Incheon top the list for least stressful airports.
The study analyzed 50 major airports worldwide across delays, check-in, security, and baggage claim.
iSelect is the Australian-based company that conducted the ranking.
