RWJUH and RWJMS received the National Rare Disease Center of Excellence designation by NORD.
The designation marks New Jersey as the first state in the Network to host such a Center of Excellence.
Leadership includes Sabahat Bokhari, MD, as Director, and Naveena Yanamala, MS, PhD, as Co-Director.
The program will integrate multiple specialties for comprehensive rare disease care.
The designation follows the foundation of RWJUH’s Cardiac Amyloidosis Center being internationally recognized.
RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers University partnerships support broader access to care and research.
The program will offer access to advanced diagnostics and clinical trials for rare diseases.
New Center will be part of RWJBarnabas Health Heart and Vascular network.
RWJMS and RWJUH will contribute to research and education in rare diseases.
The designation supports patient-centered, multidisciplinary care for rare diseases in New Jersey.
