- In 2023 he was designated as a USA Softball Elite Umpire.
- Bloomer worked at the Rex Robley VA Medical Center as a respiratory therapist.
- He also served as a treasurer for the City of Hurstbourne Acres and a bookkeeper for Bluegrass Collision.
- The family includes his wife, children, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren.
- The university did not release additional details out of respect for the family.
