FutBotMX 2026: Mexico's science ministry launches robot soccer tournament

- Fifty-five teams have already signed up for FutBotMX Cup 2026 as of January 26.

- The event runs April through June 2026 at venues across 38 institutions.
- Final rounds and live events will be held at the National Polytechnic Institute in Mexico City with regional venues also used.
- Participants must show a technical video detailing robot design and programming for evaluation.
- Teams from France, Italy and Switzerland have confirmed participation so far.
- The program includes science outreach events, workshops, talks and a cultural pavilion.
- The foundation aims to encourage innovation among youth and the general public.
