The One Show's Alex Jones paid a heartfelt on-air tribute to DJ Andy Kershaw on Friday evening following news of his death aged 66.
It had been announced in January that the broadcaster had been diagnosed with cancer and was unable to walk, with tumours found in his spine last August, but insisted he was positive.
The Rochdale-born broadcaster received multiple Sony Radio Academy Awards throughout his career, and was celebrated for bringing world music and specialised genres to mainstream radio.

Andy Kershaw has died aged 66 after a health battle, family confirms.
Kershaw rose to prominence on Radio 1 from 1985 to 2000 with an eclectic music scope.
He later reported for Radio 4 and covered global conflicts, including Rwanda in 1994.
Kershaw also worked with Radio 3 and pursued a worldwide musical journey.
In addition to broadcasting, he released an autobiography, No Off Switch.
Kershaw faced personal issues and spent time in jail in 2008 over a restraining order case.
After a broadcasting break, he returned with Music Planet and Human Planet projects.
Born in Rochdale in 1959, Kershaw's career began in Leeds and rose to prominence on BBC TV and Live Aid coverage.
Tributes have poured in from colleagues and fans after his death.
Kershaw contributed to BBC Radio 4 and Music-related journalism beyond Radio 1.
