Urgent rescue effort underway to save hikers stuck on Mount Everest after an unusually high snowfall and a blizzard on the Tibetan slopes, with hundreds deployed to clear the snow.
350 hikers had been evacuated, while around 200 remaining have been contacted as authorities push to move people to safety amidst ongoing snowfall.
The rescue effort is led by local authorities during China’s Golden Week, increasing trail use and the need for careful staged evacuations on Everest’s Tibetan routes.
