A federal judge in Oregon barred Donald Trump’s administration from deploying the National Guard to Portland until at least Friday after finding no credible evidence that protests grew out of control before federalization.
The Oregon ruling followed a three-day trial over whether protests at the ICE building met conditions for using the military domestically under federal law.
Immergut paused prior deployments earlier in October and ordered a broader review before a final ruling, with a 16-page filing outlining the evidence.
